Our Humane Process

Quality With Care

The Elk Velvet Antler (EVA) we use in our supplements comes from farm-raised elk monitored and cared for by veterinary experts, ensuring superior-quality EVA. The humane treatment of these majestic animals is just as important to us as the quality of the EVA they produce. Thankfully, our humane process ensures that neither is compromised!

Elk With Large Antlers

What Are Antlers?

Antlers grow incredibly fast at a rate of about one inch per day. For impressive antler growth, the number one factor is a healthy, protein-rich diet and a high-quality habitat.

That’s why we never feed our elk GMO corn. Instead, they graze in a natural, pollution-free environment. We also ensure they have plenty of room to roam with controlled grazing land. We also provide them with 24/7 free choice vitamin and mineral supplements. In the winter when the lush grasses are no longer growing, we offer extra nutritional support with hay and grain.

Elk Velvet Antler

What is Elk Velvet Antler?

Immature elk antlers start as cartilage covered in the skin with a short, dense fur called velvet because it looks and feels like velvet. This velvet allows oxygen-rich blood to reach growing antlers as the antlers mature. Eventually, the cartilage calcifies into bone, and the elk would rub the velvet off their antlers because it becomes quite itchy.

Elk Velvet Antler (EVA) refers to the whole elk antler harvested during the velvet stage of growth. It’s essential to get your EVA from a reputable, legal source.

Wapiti Elk Herd

Harvesting EVA

Antlers are removed from healthy bulls once a year in the springtime while they are still in the velvet stage. This humane, low-stress process is carried out under the direction of the herd veterinarian. Because these elk begin to regrow their antlers within one year making EVA a renewable resource.

All animals at Wolf Creek Ranch are certified by the Minnesota Board of Animal Health and are registered with the North American Elk Breeders Association. Routine checks are conducted by a registered veterinarian and a certified nutritionist to ensure proper health and nutrition.

Our EVA Supplements

After harvesting, Wolf Creek Elk Ranch markets green and freeze-dried antler as an ingredient product for Wapiti Labs, producing premium supplements created with Minnesota raised Elk Velvet Antler and herbs using a proprietary extraction process.
