So whether you need to support your stamina and blood circulation, reduce stomach discomfort and gas buildup in your dog, or manage your cat’s joint or tissue damage, Wapiti has the perfect solution. But what exactly are these ingredients? And how do they make it possible for our products to solve such a wide range of health problems in humans and pets alike?
Today we’ll be looking at five ingredients commonly found in our supplements to gain a better understanding of how they benefit every member of your family.

1. Elk Velvet Antler

Elk velvet antler (EVA) is an incredible natural and renewable resource. In fact, it’s been used to supplement diets and treat health afflictions throughout the Eastern world for thousands of years. Here at Wapiti, we use a proprietary extraction technique to optimize the value of our EVA, ensuring that it effectively promotes stamina and a strong immune system in pets and people. Furthermore, EVA has shown signs of improving the joint health, mobility, and vitality in pets, making it particularly useful for cats and dogs that are approaching old age.
We harvest this invaluable material on a 320-acre elk ranch in Minnesota. Once every year, the velvet antlers are removed from healthy bulls under the supervision of our herd veterinarian. The antlers can grow up to an inch a day, they are harvested in the spring when they are in velvet.  Afterwards, these bulls are released back to our expansive ranch to graze and thrive with the rest of the herd. Feel free to visit this link for more information on how we harvest EVA from our elk.

2. Citrus Peels

Citrus peels include the skins of lemons, limes, oranges and grapefruits. These peels contain high levels of vitamin C, making them ideal for lowering blood pressure, improving cardiovascular function by supporting blood vessel dilation, contributing to a healthy immune system by stimulating white blood cells, and more. Vitamin C also plays a critical role in producing certain neurotransmitters (like norepinephrine) that play a key role in improving mood and proper brain function. Some studies even suggest that a high intake of citrus fruit components can reduce the risk of degenerative diseases in humans. It’s no wonder why supplements with this essential vitamin are so useful!

3. Coix Seed

Coix seeds are commonly used as an ingredient in Chinese medicine. It is a sweet and tasteless material that promotes water metabolism, removes dampness, and strengthens the spleen. Coix seeds are used as a tonic for health care, assisting with stiff limbs and encouraging increased body vigor.

4. Ginseng Root

Ginseng is a light tan gnarled root that has extensive medical benefits for animals and humans. Laboratory studies in animals suggest that ginseng effectively boosts the immune system. Multiple clinical studies have shown that ginseng boosts the performance of cells that contribute to the body’s ability to defend against dangerous microbes. The root has also shown potential to lessen the prevalence and severity of colds and the flu, act as an antioxidant, and improve cognition and mental performance. We often incorporate ginseng into supplements for senior dogs and cats to support their long-term health and immune systems as they age.

5. Asparagus Root

Asparagus provides a number of useful nutrients for the body. Most importantly, this vegetable contains substantial amounts of potassium, vitamin B6 and folic acid. Potassium assists the body in lowering blood pressure, decreasing the likelihood of strokes, anxiety and stress. It’s also been proven to improve muscle strength, metabolism and nervous system functions. Vitamin B6 has the potential to mitigate many health issues as well, including high blood pressure.  Lastly, folic acid is a critical vitamin for protecting the body from conditions like heart disease, coronary artery disease, and age-related macular degeneration (an eye disease that can cause loss of vision).
