8 Home Remedies for Dogs of All Types
Home remedies have become an increasingly popular alternative to traditional medicine. But, did you know that you can also use home remedies for your dog just as easily? Knowing when your dog needs to go to the vet and when a home remedy will do the trick can save you time and money and it can also save your dog discomfort and pain.

  1. Apple Cider Vinegar: This remedy has many uses. It alleviates itching, when applied to the ears it clears and prevents ear infections, improves digestion, nausea, & allergies, and corrects ph balance.
  1. Plain Yogurt: Plain yogurt is a healthy treat for your dog. Just like in your body, the live acidophilus in the yogurt keeps the good bacteria in your dog’s intestines in balance, so that bad bacteria is swiftly knocked out. If your dog is on antibiotics, a little yogurt will also help keep yeast infections at bay.
  1. Essential Oils: There are many different kinds of essential oils on the market. The only kind I recommend are Young Living. They have many different uses for different oils. Geranium, Lemon Grass, and Peppermint are great for making your own flea and tick collar. Lavender and Peace & Calming help to mellow out your pet and keep them relaxed. Especially during fireworks, or any stressful situation.
  1. Epsom Salt: It will help relieve a strained muscle andtreat abscessed nail beds and paws that are itchy due to allergies.  Add ½ cup Epsom salt to a warm bath and let your dog soak for five minutes, twice daily. If your dog doesn’t agree with you on this method, you can soak a washcloth in Epsom salt and warm water and apply just to the local area.
  1. Canned Pumpkin: Not to be confused with pumpkin pie filling. It helps with constipation and diarrhea. I use about 2 teaspoons per #10 of body weight.
  1. Coconut Oil: Coconut oil is good for dogs and can help aid your pets’ digestion, improve their coats, help prevent infection, increases nutrient absorption, reduces or eliminates bad breath, and so much more. Keep an eye on serving sizes. I use 1 teaspoon per #10 of body weight.
  1. Bentonite Clay: Bentonite is known for its ability to absorb and remove toxins, heavy metals, impurities, and chemicals. For pets that are sick, vomiting or showing signs of illness, you can add Bentonite to their water or mix and give orally with a dropper or syringe without the needle. I have heard several cases where this helped pets recover quickly from what could otherwise have been serious illnesses.
  1. Goats Milk: It contains vitamins, minerals, electrolytes, trace elements, enzymes, protein, and fatty acids all utilized by the body with ease. It is great for diarrhea, poor digestion, malnutrition, liver disease, and upset tummies.
